Advance Care Planning Ambassador Workshop
June 4 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm| Free
Is it important to you to honor others’ important life wishes? Do you want to support your community in making thoughtful health decisions? Advance Care Planning is a conversation process about the care you would want in the event of a medical crisis. This ACP Ambassador training is open to anyone interested in helping promote ACP to individuals ages 18+. Ambassadors are on-the-ground advocates for ACP. They actively and enthusiastically engage those around them about ACP and offer knowledgeable support and resources for taking the next step—having the conversation.
Objectives: By the end of the training, ambassadors will be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to speak passionately, knowledgeably, and empathetically about ACP, and appropriately refer to other resources
Develop sensitive responses to various scenarios that may arise in their communities
Create ideas for conducting outreach about ACP within their communities
Distinguish between the roles and responsibilities of various members of the Honoring Choices Virginia ACP team
Apply the ambassador data collection process to real-life scenarios
Pre-requisite: Ambassadors are also expected to schedule an ACP conversation with one of our trained Facilitators. Any loved ones you wish to be a part of this conversation are encouraged to attend with you. We will reach out to schedule this after you register for training. This program is limited to the first 20 registrants. Snacks will be provided.
