Curator’s Talk: Decoding Lessons of the Hour

January 20 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

| $8

Join VMFA’s Valerie Cassel Oliver, Sydney and Frances Lewis Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, for a discussion of Isaac Julien’s work “Lesson of the Hour—Frederick Douglass”. In Decoding Lessons of the Hour, Cassel Oliver unravels the symbolism embedded in this 10-screen film installation, enabling viewers to deepen their understanding of Douglass’s words in relation to his life and our contemporary selves.
