The Autism Society Central VA presents Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

This workshop will focus on the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Guidelines for Conducting a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Developing Effective Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Participants will discuss the regulatory aspects and best practices as they apply to the federal and state mandated process. Emphasis will be placed on developing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of a BIP. There will also be time for participants to ask questions.

This workshop is designed for parents who have students who exhibit difficulties in managing their behavior at school. Advocates and other community stakeholders who work with parents of students with behavior difficulties are also invited and encouraged to attend.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Virginia Department of Education.

Presenter: C.J. Butler, earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Old Dominion University (ODU). Currently, he is employed by ODU as a master lecturer in the Department of Special Education.
