Virtual Lunch-In — Moving the Needle: How Fundraising Impacts Social Change through Legal Advocacy Organizations

VAFRE will offer a one-hour panel discussion with the executive directors and fundraisers from two statewide nonprofits that focus on civil rights, social justice and access to legal services. Interviewed by the Executive Director of the Community Tax Law Project, the staff will discuss fundraising realities in time of COVID, recession, elections, and urgent public calls to address structural racism in our state. The fundraising executives will share details on strategies to increase or adjust capacity for philanthropy. Additionally, the executives will share how their institutions are using philanthropy to meet escalated demand for services. Our Presenters: Alissa Aronovici, ACLU of Virginia Director of Philanthropy; Claire Guthrie Gastanaga, ACLU of Virginia Executive Director; Toni Maxey, Virginia Poverty Law Center Director of Development; Jay Speer, Virginia Poverty Law Center Executive Director; David Sams, Virginia Tax Law Project Executive Director, Moderator.
