Program Assistant, Family Support Services The Program Specialist position plays a critical role in helping AFOI achieve its vision to provide high-quality programs in areas of family reunification and reintegration. This position will staff an innovative program for mothers who are incarcerated at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women (VCCW) in Goochland, VA. This position will be responsible for facilitating strong, reunifying bonds between incarcerated mothers and their children, preparing them for successful parenting and connections upon release and reintegration into their family, home and community. Schedule Primarily, the Program Specialist will work at VCCW on Saturdays and/or Sundays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Responsibilities · Provide high quality care to incarcerated mothers and their children in a secure correctional environment. · Lead programming efforts with participants based on assigned curriculum and program standards. · Assist participants with meal preparation, activities, set-up/clean-up, etc. · Teach parenting skills to participants and help them to learn about appropriate child development. · Follow directives from correctional staff in maintaining security of the facility and safety of participants and staff. · Participate in training to understand facility and program requirements. · Utilize a trauma-informed approach to working with participants. . Weekly curriculum preparation and case reporting. · Light set-up and cleanup work before and after programmatic hours. · Other related duties as assigned. Program Assistant, Transportation Services The Program Assistant position plays a critical role in helping AFOI achieve its vision to provide high-quality programs in areas of family connectivity, reunification and reintegration. This position will staff the AFOI Transportation Program in Richmond providing direct, onsite operations. Responsibilities Program Support – Assist the organization in carrying out the functions necessary to operate the Transportation Program on scheduled program Fridays. Customer Service Support – Provide high-quality customer service to individuals and families utilizing the Transportation Program. Specific Duties 1. Highly knowledgeable of Transportation Program policies and procedures for AFOI; 2. Highly knowledgeable of visitation policies and procedures for Virginia Department of Corrections; 3. Provide excellent customer service to individuals and families utilizing the Transportation Program a. Open and prepare waiting area well in advance of individuals and families arriving for transportation b. Check identification of individuals and families in accordance with policies and procedures c. Accurately collect and record rider fees d. Load buses in an expedient manner and provide an accurate accounting of riders to charter provider e. Secure the waiting area after buses depart. 4. Provide an accurate account of Transportation Program activities a. Reconcile the day’s events utilizing AFOI paperwork provided b. Report any issues (family, offender, institution, equipment) in writing to the Director of Programs and/or ED c. Record hours worked and submit hours and weekend report to the ED d. Secure all monies collected per AFOI policies and procedures. 5. Serve as a liaison to volunteers/meal volunteer groups 6. Other duties as assigned. Director of Programs Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Programs plays a critical role in helping AFOI achieve its vision to provide high-quality, supportive programs while ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. The Director of Programs will assist with staff management and will be a key external face of AFOI in the community. The Director of Programs is responsible for a variety of significant activities including that of program oversight, operations and expansion, program evaluation and development. They will be instrumental in ensuring consistent and effective processes and communications in order to strengthen AFOI’s programs and position the organization for continued success. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with team management experience to grow and further develop a results-proven program. The successful candidate will lead programs, partner with the ED, work collaboratively with a high-performance management team, and help forge lasting partnerships to build on AFOI’s community impact and success. Responsibilities Programs - Implement and manage day-to-day operations of programs, primarily the organization’s three programming buckets - Visitation Services, Family Support Services and Children’s Services - Analyze, forecast, and report on key program statistics, pointing out trends and making recommendations to ED - Collaborate with other community agencies to promote partnerships and enhance service options for children and families impacted by incarceration - Promote positive program results by monitoring program goals and objectives and ensure proper data collection tools and measures are in place - Other duties as assigned. Administration - Act as on-call contact during specified months for program issues (rotating on-call) - Manage and evaluate assigned program staff, team members and volunteers - Assist with board meetings and appropriately work with board members and assigned board committee(s) - Assist with fundraising and grant-writing as they relate to AFOI programming buckets - Other administrative duties as assigned. Outreach & Technology - Engage key supporters throughout the year and promote services and programs; this position is a key external facing position for the organization - Work with Director of Operations and Development to assist in the creation of compelling content for the website, printed materials, reports, etc. - Must be proficient in Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce/database software - Some travel, night and weekend engagements - Other duties as assigned.
