Boys & Girls Clubs Programs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond’s (BGCMR) mission is to empower young people, especially those from historically marginalized communities, to succeed in life. For over 65 years, BGCMR has provided youth with a safe place to participate in fun, engaging activities and mentoring relationships with positive adults. BGCMR has five Clubs strategically located in four different under-resourced neighborhoods: in Richmond’s Northside, Southside, East End (two locations) and Petersburg. We recently opened a teen center at the Market @ 25th development and will open a permanent 16,000 sq. ft. teen center in the spring of 2021. At our Clubs, we provide a “second home” so that, in time, our youth can feel a sense of belonging wherever they go, thriving as students, employees, citizens and leaders. BGCMR serves over 1,200 youth, ages 6-23, annually. During out-of-school time and in the summer, Clubs provide youth with a safe environment, academic assistance, social-emotional learning, physical activity and trusted mentors. Our young people enjoy a full complement of programs designed to be engaging, to build skills and be delivered with the best of youth development practices. In addition to daily homework help, youth can participate in enriching STEM and literacy activities, recreation opportunities, dance, music, yoga, and field trips. Teens access an array of college and career awareness and preparation activities with individualized support to help them achieve their goals and develop life readiness skills.
