Capital Trees is an urban greening organization that works with public and private partners to identify, create, environmentally restore and beautify public urban green spaces to improve/promote community. This work revolves around creating environmentally responsible and pleasing places for others to engage with as outdoor classrooms, meeting places and play spaces - walking, biking or "just being" places. Capital Tree is a group of passionate horticulturalists, landscape architects, community activists, businessmen/women, conservationists, gardeners who care deeply about our Richmond community and building a fabric of trust, access, healthy lifestyles and opportunity. Capital Trees demonstrates this commitment through our advocacy and our actions. We believe that public green spaces are our "common wealth" and are essential to this community's health and growth. Capital Trees is committed to identifying ways to incorporate green infrastructure into all of our projects. Capital Trees funds the design, implementation and maintenance of each project which have included the restoration of Great Shiplock Park and the 14th Street streetscape. We have completed the Low Line with Phase II, the Low Line Green. The Low Line is a completely restored 5.5 linear garden along the Virginia Capital Trail along Dock street between 17th Street and Pear Street along the Kanawha Canal and James River...east of the Flood Wall.
