The Central Virginia Civil War Collectors Association (CVCWCA) is an organization of Civil War collectors, relic hunters, history buffs, and antique military enthusiasts. The Central Virginia Civil War Collector’s Association, (formerly the Central Virginia Relic Hunters Association), was organized to promote the study and preservation of American history, and to identify and preserve historical artifacts and sites. Organized in Richmond in 1980 with 29 charter members. We are always striving to enlist new members who desire to share our interests. The club typically meets monthly except for July and December. Members are notified directly. Activities include presentations related to Civil War artifacts and history, guest speakers, and light refreshments. A “Best Dug Relic of the Month” competition and award is one of many meeting highlights. The CVCWCA sponsors other occasional field trips to battlefields and museums, and also sponsors artifact displays at history related events in and around the Richmond, Virginia area. CVCWCA co-hosts the very successful “Capital of the Confederacy Civil War Show”. This annual event is considered one of the largest and most successful Civil War shows in the East. It is held at the Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Ave., in Richmond.
