CMGF is Richmond's nonprofit community mediation center offering mediation services in addition to classes that teach mediation and conflict management skills through workshops and trainings. Our mission is to help the Greater Richmond community resolve disputes more amicably. Unresolved conflict takes a toll on the workplace and our communities. If not dealt with appropriately, conflict can escalate and be devastating to all involved. Resolving conflict amicably is essential for preserving families and bringing communities together. Mediation is a voluntary method of settling conflict and disputes, and is generally faster, less expensive, with more satisfactory results than going through the court system. A mediator is a neutral third party who assists the parties in negotiating a mutually beneficial settlement. It has been called "no-fault" conflict resolution because the goal is to reach a solution fairly and quickly, not to decide who is right or wrong in a court battle. Our mediators are certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia and have substantial experience in mediating a wide range of both family and civil disputes. The Supreme Court also approves our programs and trainers. We work to change conflict into an opportunity for positive growth. We encourage creative solutions that bring the most value to each party.
