Girls on the Run offers physical activity-based positive youth development programs that create a safe space for girls to grow their confidence and sense of self-worth through goal setting, processing emotions, and building relationships while improving their physical health. Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond strives to eliminate barriers to participation, to create programming that engages all communities, to be intentional about staff and volunteer diversity, and to promote a culture of inclusion across the organization. We leverage the power of volunteers and partner with schools and community organizations to serve over 700 students each year across 7 counties/cities in the greater Richmond region. POSITION SUMMARY The Program Manager is responsible for managing program operations for up to 30 sites each semester and building relationships in the community that advance the organization’s mission and commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. This position provides an exciting opportunity for someone to bring their unique talents and experiences to shape the role as an integral part of our small team. The position works collaboratively with other program staff and reports to the Executive Director. We encourage individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES This job description reflects essential functions of the role. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Program and Site Management • Implement the Girls on the Run strategic program plan to achieve program goals with respect to sites hosting programs, volunteer coaches supporting teams, and girls served • Network with educators to retain the program at existing sites and to expand to new sites • Develop and execute a marketing plan to achieve strategic goals • Attend community evening and weekend events to engage educators, community members, and families • Maintain seasonal communications timeline and create streamlined program communications • Serve as a primary point of contact for school staff, volunteers, and parents/caregivers Volunteer Recruitment, Management and Training • Recruit volunteers that mirror the demographics of our community and ensure all program sites are staffed with qualified coaches • Manage all aspects of coach and volunteer registration, onboarding, engagement, training, and support • Monitor completion of volunteer prerequisites: training, CPR & First Aid, and background checks • Coordinate site visits to generate support and continuous improvement of program delivery • Develop, cultivate, and retain volunteers with ongoing gratitude and support • Reinforce adherence to program policies and procedures, collect feedback and generate innovation and improvements as needed Mission Advancement/Organizational Support • Collaborate with staff to plan and execute end-of-program 5K events (2x/year) as well as special events for participants, families, coaches, volunteers, donors, and community members • Communicate program impact, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities via social media and e-newsletters • Represent GOTR at community events and connect with diverse community organizations, running groups, and other mission-aligned stakeholders • Provide program reports for board meetings and grant reports and participate in board committees where appropriate Administrative • Manage inventory and distribution of program supplies and merchandise • Monitor curriculum updates and modifications to support effective program delivery across diverse student groups • Utilize Pinwheel CRM software and other project management tools to track and steward site, coach, participant, and other volunteer/partner records • Track program metrics and evaluation, using feedback and results to continuously improve programs • Track program budget with Executive Director | Programming | May 24, 2023 |
