Created in 1966, The MathScience Innovation Center is the only organization dedicated to the development and implementation of futuristic math and science programs for Central Virginia's K-12 educators and students. MSiC membership includes 12 school divisions: Charles City, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, King William, Petersburg, Powhatan, Prince George and Richmond. The consortium's 151 elementary, 48 middle and 42 high schools represent a range of urban, suburban, and rural schools. Last year 1,528 educators improved their ability to teach through workshops, certificate renewal, and graduate courses taught in collaboration with institutes of higher education. 170,448 students were taught at the Center, within their area K-12 classrooms by our visiting faculty, a series of Saturday and summer courses, and virtual programming which include websites, web-based courses, streaming videos, and videoconferencing.
