Renew Crew Volunteer Program
The Renew Crew volunteer program provides critical home repairs and accessibility modifications, including wheelchair ramps, for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners. The program is funded by private contributions. Work is performed by volunteers from area businesses, churches and civic groups. Typical repairs include painting, caulking, repairing walls and ceilings, replacing floors, rebuilding porches, clearing overgrown yards, demolishing unsafe out buildings and curing code violations. Accessibility work includes installing wheelchair ramps, hand railings, grab bars and ADA toilets and widening doorways.
Home Rehabilitation Program
Our Home Rehabilitation program provides critically needed moderate to major rehab services and emergency home repairs to allow homeowners to age in place. We hire and supervise the work of independent contractors for major repairs that focus on a home’s infrastructure and typically feature repairing or replacing roofs, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning systems; and to address structural problems leading to health and safety hazards.
Weatherization & Energy Conservation Program
Our Weatherization & Energy Conservation program improves lives by improving comfort and safety, while reducing annual utility costs by hundreds of dollars. Trained staff conduct whole house pressure testing and use advanced insulation techniques to improve overall energy efficiency. We also conduct heating and cooling safety inspections, and repair or replace antiquated or faulty systems, apply insulation, reseal doors and windows, and replace furnaces.
Our Revitalization program improves lives by helping to revive struggling communities. We set a quality standard for new development in older neighborhoods. We preserve existing housing by renovating blighted homes, and by building architecturally appropriate, affordable and energy efficient “in-fill” single family homes. We also develop multifamily housing and senior independent living facilities.
