RVA Future Centers offer an exciting new opportunity aimed at increasing the number of Richmond Public Schools graduates accessing quality post-high school college and career opportunities, by providing a strong system of support, information, and assistance to RPS high school students. The long-term vision is to provide meaningful non-financial and financial support to all RPS high school students, before, during and after graduation, to bolster students’ long-term educational and economic success after high school. This is a collaborative initiative between the City of Richmond (via the Mayor’s Office of Community Wealth Building), Richmond Public Schools, and the Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation, where this initiative is based. Each of the five comprehensive high schools have an RVA Future Center staffed by a dedicated professional to create, organize, and implement career/college activities focused on student success beyond high school. In partnership with the RPS School Counseling Department, RVA Future Centers help to identify the gaps, determine metrics for success, and develop a coordinated plan for effective service delivery. Long range impact will be to create a stream of qualified/educationally prepared talent for the Richmond workforce and improve the quality of life in the Richmond community by investing in future generations.

Through TechConnect students are introduced to basic computer software while encouraged to be curious and experiment so they can learn at their own speed. This program helps students become familiar with technology and fosters innovation.
