The Doorways seeks a skilled development writer to write and manage our annual appeals and grants. This person will have a passion for persuasive writing and is comfortable diving into our data, creating lists, finding trends, tracking reportable data, and creating development plans accordingly. This position helps all team members adhere to a consistent, brand-reflective voice in all written content, and works closely with the Director of Development and President/CEO to deliver on development goals and to steward donors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating an annual development and stewardship plan for all middle donors, as well as corporate and foundation grants; tracking results against plan throughout the year.
• Managing the content, design, creation, printing, and mailing of all annual appeals, including mail list creation and segmentation.
• Managing the grant writing, submission and reporting process, including proposal development, research, outreach, and relationship-building with both existing donors and prospects.
• Managing the content, design, creation, printing, and mailing of the annual report, including finalizing the honor roll of donors and mail list.
• Creating marketing/PR content as needed, including web, newsletter articles and e-newsletters.
• Analyzing both donor and guest data to find trends, track reportable data, and create development plans.
• Assisting with events planning and execution as appropriate/as needed.
• Maintaining up-to-date State Charitable Solicitation licenses, including submission of annual applications and maintaining communications with state agencies as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Degree from four-year accredited college. Candidate should be a seasoned writer that can quantify past results, with 4+ years of experience in grant writing/management, appeal management and donor stewardship. Experience running queries and segmenting lists/using a donor/contacts database required, experience with Raisers Edge/Blackbaud, Photoshop, InDesign and Mailchimp a plus.
