Comfort Zone Camp (CZC) is seeking a dynamic leader to take the organization into a new phase of growth and leadership in the field of childhood grief, support and care. CZC is a charitable organization that has been in existence since 1998. Its unique approach to supporting children during loss through bereavement camps and day programs has given the organization recognition and support across the country, from its original roots in Richmond, Virginia, having served over 15,000 children to date.
With over a million dollar annual operating budget, and a strong volunteer base of over 600 in four states, the CZC Board is challenged to find an effective executive who brings the compassion and the qualifications to lead a service-oriented organization but also has strong administrative and operational clarity. This visionary leader understands and exhibits the importance of partnerships among and between sponsoring organizations, donors, volunteers, and most importantly children and families. The CEO will lead a high impact qualified staff of nine to thirteen. The CEO based in Richmond, Virginia guides the strategic direction of the organization at all levels through all departments; program, communications, marketing and finance. This strategic leader exemplifies a strong connection with people and a respect for the vison and mission of CZC and those who carry it throughout and across the service area.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will develop and implement an annual action plan that ensures the organization’s mission and Board’s vision is realized, growth is strategic and the organization’s financial resources are sustainable. On a day-to-day basis, the CEO will be the “face” of CZC, epitomizing qualities of a compassionate, skilled, articulate servant-leader who understands and appreciates all aspects of nonprofit management.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred; at least five years’ experience in senior management for a non-profit organization, strong operating and financial skills and acumen, experience in grant management and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
