**This is a change from the 06/11/2018 job posting for the Family Housing Case Manager. The change is the result of the internal candidates that immediately expressed interest in and are applying for the case management position.**

The Community Housing Navigator educates and recruits landlords to provide quality permanent housing opportunities for families and single adults experiencing homelessness that are prioritized for a rapid re-housing intervention by the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care. The person in this role provides a full-range of housing search and placement services for program participants, inspects rental housing units and ensures compliance with rapid re-housing standards, educates participants on their rights and responsibilities as tenants, and serves as a resource and, at times, mediator for landlords and program participants following leasing.

Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in human services field required or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities; at least two years of experience in case management, housing navigation, and/or homeless services required. • Ability to efficiently work in a team, as well as independently, in an environment with minimal supervision. • Knowledge of current social services trends, homeless and housing interventions, and best practices. • Experience and comfort working with individuals with serious mental illness in a trauma-informed manner. • Impeccable judgement, ability to comply with grant regulations, and a very strong detail orientation a must. • Strong skills in independently de-escalating potentially tense situations with program participants and landlords in a professional, trauma-informed manner. • Ability to analyze participant's housing needs, desires, and case information and to reach sound decisions on the basis of such information. • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. • Ability to use printed and online forms and a computer database to establish and maintain detailed case records and to facilitate data collection. • Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of client information. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and deliver services in a culturally competent manner.
