NAMI Central Virginia (NAMI-CVA)

The NAMI Central Virginia Community Outreach Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to maintain and build strategic relationships, conduct a variety of outreach activities, recruit program participants and volunteers, and assist the Executive Director as needed.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Work closely with NAMI-CVA staff to make sure the needs of the District 19 community are met.
Maintain relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new partners. Establish and maintain effective relationships/partnerships with local agencies, employers, hospitals, and other parties. In partnership with NAMI-CVA staff, work with stakeholders to implement and/or develop programs that fill gaps and resolve mental health needs or issues of concern. Attend relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils, roundtables, and committees.
Public Relations and distribution of NAMI-CVA education, information, and event materials.
Plan and coordinate outreach activities and special events, including conferences and health fairs, to promote services and to connect with community residents in need of NAMI-CVA programs. Speak in community on NAMI-CVA programs and their impacts.
Assist with answering NAMI-CVA HelpLine calls and emails.
Operate and maintain NAMI-CVA satellite office in Hopewell.
Recruit volunteers and potential mentors, presenters, and group facilitators.
Maintain social media presence.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor or Associate degree preferred. High school diploma with experience acceptable. Must have proficiency in MS Office and Excel spreadsheet creation and maintenance. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups. Ability to network. Ability to work independently or manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential. Must be committed to the mission of serving individuals with mental health conditions and their families. Ability to organize and maintain detailed records and complete necessary paperwork.
$12 - $13/ hour
This is a 12-month temporary position with the possibility of renewing at the end of the year. The position is 20 hours a week at $12 to $13 per hour. Travel to the Tri-Cities and in and around Richmond is required. Travel is reimbursed at .535 cents per mile with a weekly maximum as approved by the Executive Director.
