The Development Support Specialist full time position is an outstanding entry level position for an organized, detailed and technology- oriented individual. This individual will enjoy working collaboratively with others inside and outside the organization, in a support role to the development team on tasks associated with general fundraising and special events in order to reach assigned annual development objectives and goals and maximize organizational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate data entry for development projects such as event RSVP tracking, revenue tracking, pre- and post-event reporting
• Drive administrative and organizational preparations for special events and development meetings, including leading check-in/check-out processes at such events
• Generate collateral materials needed for special events, donor stewardship and cultivation projects and other development initiatives
• Serve as administrative liaison for Richmond Board of Directors, Emerging Leaders Board and Junior Board
• Lead initiative to accurately track donor involvement in database (event participation, board/committee
involvement, etc.)
• Support development personnel in administrative capacities, in addition to other key executive staff
• Assist with special database projects and reporting and donor cultivation projects/mailings
• Communicate effectively in person and on phone with key constituents important to success of WPP operations (donors, Board members, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, etc.)
• Serve in key role on site for all development related events
• Cross-trained to act in absence of Office Support Specialists (accepting incoming phone calls, distributing/sorting mail, accurately completing data entry and acknowledgement letters, etc.)
• Assist with major in-house mailings
• Maintain development events calendar
• Take and distribute accurate meeting notes from weekly development team meetings

Required Qualifications:
College education desirable, 2-4 years’ experience in an administrative support/office manager role; or any equivalent of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to provide the core responsibilities of this position. • Must have comprehensive knowledge of personal computers and commonly used Microsoft Office software products, to include Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and PowerPoint. • Experience in creating appealing marketing or published collateral for external use with MS Publisher • Proficient in creating mail merges, spreadsheets and other basic computer related support tasks. Individual should also have experience using a donor management system, preferably Donor Perfect. • Successful individual should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information concisely and effectively; ability to effectively manage time and to organize and prioritize work; ability to work independently with little direct supervision; must be flexible and adapt to fast pace work and team environments; high level of attention to detail. • Good penmanship is also a plus.
