In order for the City and Schools Partnership to achieve its ambitious mission – “to create the climate and conditions for every child to succeed by providing a sustainable, coordinated system of supports and access” – a dynamic and detail-oriented Director is required. The City and Schools Partnership is a collaboration among United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, Petersburg City Public Schools, departments of the state and local government, and nonprofit organizations serving Petersburg. These entities work to support the Petersburg City Public Schools strategic plan by using collective impact principles to engage the entire local and state community toward shared goals and metrics. The Director will be an employee of United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg and will be responsible for driving the Partnership’s work forward, by supporting day-to-day communications and administration, as well as community engagement, and data functions.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with community leaders; experience in fundraising or grant writing; experience taking directions from multiple stakeholders; and demonstrated commitment to the collective impact concepts. S/he will also have demonstrated advanced project management skills; flexibility and the ability to work autonomously; strong analytical and critical thinking skills; strong community engagement and facilitation skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral); ability to build relationships with a cross-sectional range of stakeholders in the local or regional area, including community leaders; and the presence to inspire confidence and passion in external audiences and to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
