Virginia Mentoring Partnership

This full-time position provides leadership, expertise, management and coordination to the organization’s strategic programmatic and funding relationships. This position requires experience in cultivation, stewardship and relationship-building with a variety of stakeholders. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and other members of the staff and Board of Directors, this position will be responsible for developing new partnerships with programs and communities, and securing annual revenue from a variety of sources, including individuals, foundations, corporations, fee for service, and special events throughout Richmond and the state of Virginia. The purpose of this position is to create dynamic partnerships and provide strategic oversight for Virginia Mentoring Partnership, which will in turn create and promote opportunities for quality youth mentoring programs across the state of Virginia.

Examples of position responsibilities:

• Work with Executive Director on relationship management and stewardship of major donors and community
foundations related to Program Services and new initiatives
• Build business cases to demonstrate return on investment for corporations to partner with VMP both through providing
human capital and corporate gifts
• Assist with identifying new programmatic grant funders and building relationships in order to educate them on the
importance of quality mentoring and funding backbone organizations like VMP
• Work with staff and Board on special events that engage donors, corporate partners and program partners
• Deepen relationships with existing programs by meeting regularly with stakeholders around the state
• Lead VMP’s regional expansion efforts around the state of Virginia by developing a staffing structure and capacity
building efforts to reach both mentoring programs and potential funding partners

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree is preferred. Several years of experience and a successful track record leading fundraising operations and/or programmatic initiatives for non-profits/educational organizations/related fields.Experience in cultivating and securing gifts from a variety of sources, growing individual revenue, stewarding existing donors and funding partnerships, and securing event sponsorships are all vital functions of this role.Strong writing and editing skills with a high attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize information or research to create compelling messages is a plus.Additional qualifications include:Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to function as a team player.Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines, and supervise staff and volunteers engaged in the process.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Experience with community and volunteer organizations and schools.Knowledge of development programs, policies and general financial practices.Appreciation of the organization’s mission and the youth mentoring field.Ability to work in a diverse environment required.Ability to work flexible hours including some weeknights and Saturdays.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience, within VCU pay band
