Community Foundation for a greater Richmond

Community Foundation for a greater Richmond is hiring for a Director of Community Partnerships (a full-time, exempt level position). Reporting to the Chief Engagement Officer, the Director of Community Partnerships will play an integral role in moving forward the Foundation’s desire to create systems-level change for the benefit of Central Virginia residents. This position will work with governmental agencies, elected/appointed officials, public entities, corporations, private institutions, nonprofits, and other funders to envision, develop, and execute solutions designed to address systemic issues that contribute to inequities in our community. This individual will be the Foundation’s subject matter expert as it regards several important focus areas where systems change is desired. This position will also offer cross-functional assistance to other teammates within the Foundation to advance the Foundation’s work and vision.

• Partner and collaborate with governmental agencies, corporations, public and private foundations, and nonprofit institutions as well as elected/appointed officials and other community leaders on community-based initiatives that can lead to systemic change that will improve the quality of life for Central Virginia residents
• Serve as subject-matter expert related to several areas of focus for the Foundation including:
• Education (early childhood and K-12, including after-school programming)
• Workforce Development and Jobs (credentialing, access, retention)
• Housing (homelessness, supportive housing, affordable housing)
• Recognize opportunities for community-wide collaboration and initiate efforts to bring together individuals and organizations that can affect change; set agendas and lead these groups when necessary
• Initiate and evaluate high impact grant opportunities related to advocacy and policy, including the establishment and measurement of outcomes, including those that are longer-term in nature; connect advocacy work to systems and direct services as is appropriate
• Make grant recommendations and participate in the overall grantmaking process as it regards systems and advocacy organizations
• Employ an equity and social justice lens, including a focus on specific demographics and areas of the region
• Educate the Foundation team on opportunities and create action plans when cross-collaboration is necessary
• Meet with donors interested in advocacy and policymaking
• Partner with Foundation’s Civic Innovations/volunteerism team as is necessary, to connect individuals to community partnerships

Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred. • 7 or more years of relevant professional experience • Must be an experienced manager and proven leader with demonstrated success in building relationships and shaping consensus from disparate viewpoints • Experience in executing equity-based strategies that address long-term social injustices • Success in leading community engagement, collaboration, and cross-functional work groups • Working knowledge of philanthropic sector. • Knowledge of or experience working with local, state, and federal processes and tools to effect social change • Ability to determine and measure outcomes that drive change • Highly collaborative work style; demonstrated ability to work with various levels of residents and leaders throughout the community • Strong communications skills, both written and oral; comfortable speaking in front of people, delivering presentations, and leading convenings • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated to investigate and learn; strong research skills • Driven to achieve tangible results; ability to put ideas into action • Must possess clear judgment and high integrity • Ability to attend community events on nights and weekends that are related to Foundation strategy and/or related work streams
