The Cameron K. Gallagher Director of Development plays a key role on the management team. Reporting to the Executive Director and supervising two development coordinators, the Director of Development will lead and support the development team. The Director will be responsible for securing the resources necessary to fulfill our mission by managing all aspects of fundraising to include individual and corporate giving, race sponsorships, grants, in kind donations, and leading processes to help guide the development vision, implementation, and expansion.

You have a knack for developing and managing efficient and sustainable processes that support your staff delivering their own goals. You have the technical proficiency to envision and implement our system for tracking donor information. You are capable of working both independently and in teams, managing multiple projects and time-sensitive deadlines at the same time. You are a great collaborator, an effective communicator, and are adept at seeking and using feedback to shape your work. You are a creative problem solver. You are highly organized and pay close attention to the details, while always keeping bigger picture goals, core values, and purpose in mind.

Required Qualifications:
Responsibilities of the Director of Development include, but are not limited to: • Developing, implementing and monitoring progress toward short- and long-term fundraising strategy and goals. • Supervising, setting goals with and for, and reviewing the performance of development staff. • Cultivating relationships with current and prospective funders and supporters, especially individual donors. • Maintaining oversight over all fundraising activities including major giving, grants, special events, direct mail appeals, and corporate partnership initiatives. • Working with the Board of Directors, including the Board fundraising committee, in development- related projects. • Participating in the planning, writing and reviewing grants. • Managing expense budgets for all fundraising efforts. • Serving as one of the public representatives of the organization, including cultivating relationships with community members, including prospective volunteers and supporters to build awareness of and commitment to CKG. • Overseeing the maintenance and expansion of the organization’s database of supporters. • Participating in Board of Directors meetings when requested and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports as requested by the Executive Director and Board. • Actively reinforcing organizational and leading by example. • Bachelor’s degree • Minimum of three years of successful fundraising where you were charged with leading development efforts that secured $500k+ • Proven track record of raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporation • Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, contracts management, and special events. • Knowledge of and connections to the funding community in Richmond, VA with capability to travel to SpeakUp5k host cities and assist in cultivating sponsorships • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Strong interpersonal, supervision, administration and management skills • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs • Familiarity with donor tracking systems; Salesforce experience a plus • Driver’ license in good standing • Successful passing of background check • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Salary:
Hiring Range: $55,000-$60,000 DOE
