Virginia Voice is working everyday to provide services for people who are blind and vision impaired using technology and the human voice.
Virginia Voice Inc. is in the process of expanding, marking its 44-year anniversary in 2022. With this growth, the organization seeks to hire a full-time Director of Development and Marketing. The organization raises most of its funds through private philanthropy and state and private funding.
The Director of Development and Marketing plays a key role in ensuring that Virginia Voice has the funding necessary to sustain its mission of providing audio reading and information service to over 5,000 individuals in Central Virginia and the Hampton Roads area who cannot independently read print material due to vision loss or other disabilities. This position is responsible for researching, creating, and implementing the development plan for Virginia Voice. Overall, the position is charged with continuously growing the organization’s financial ability to meet and exceed its mission and vision in collaboration with the CEO.

Required Qualifications:
• Three to five years’ experience working in fundraising and development or equivalent experience • Must have understanding and commitment to Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Principles and Standards • Experience in marketing and promotions • Expository writing, creative writing, and public speaking skills preferred • Knowledge of and commitment to personal growth and development on issues of living with loss of vision and other disabilities • Fluent in technology platforms including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint; proficient with databases and communications platforms. Experience with DonorPerfect, a plus • Four-year college degree or demonstrated complex analysis, writing, and project management skills equivalent to a degree in higher education
