The Director is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting leadership and major gift prospects for 4-figure to 6-figure gifts, managing a portfolio of high potential prospects with the goal to help increase fundraising goals year over year. The Director will also be responsible for continuously developing, overseeing, and evaluating on an ongoing basis an effective Annual Fund Program that both raises current dollars and builds the foundation for future philanthropy through pipeline programs and thoughtful stewardship. Annual Fund Programs include mail and email mass solicitations, the phonathon, an annual 1870 Society leadership giving campaign, Giving Day, and the Reunion gift program. The Director will critically evaluate efforts on an ongoing basis and innovate as necessary, managing an Operations Manager who has significant responsibility for the execution of the Annual Fund. The Director will be a self-starter who is versed in creative methods of reaching alumni across a variety of communication channels. He/she will be forward thinking and able to navigate uncertainty as new programs are designed in a start-up environment. The Director will manage The 1870 Society Committee, and other peer-to-peer fundraising volunteers.

The Director is collaborative as he/she works in concert with other members of the Law School Advancement office, the Dean, the Law School’s administrative team (career services, student affairs, admissions, communications) and the central Advancement Division to ensure that all aspects of the overall program are effectively executed.

Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to successfully solicit and close gifts. Demonstrated judgment and creative problem solving skills. Exceptional organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail. Strong analytic skills with the ability to develop processes and tools to measure progress. Ability to quickly react to changes reflected in data analysis and to shift strategies accordingly. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to coordinate and manage volunteers and make them feel valued. Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and collaboration with all levels of customers. Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree required. J.D. preferred. Three to five years of related experience, preferably in an educational environment as a fundraiser managing individual and/or annual giving. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM database is preferred. Computer proficiency is required. A high degree of personal integrity is essential.
Pay Grade 8 (Hiring Range $62,345.00 to $82,600.00 annually)
