The Shalom Farms Director of Programs plays a key coordinating role on the senior leadership team. Reporting to the Executive Director and supervising the Mobile Market Manager, Healthy Retail Manager, and the Prescription Produce Plan Coordinator, the Director of Programs will lead and support the Programs team. The Director will be responsible for supporting the smooth implementation of core food access programs by managing external partnerships, organizing and supporting program activities, and leading processes to help guide program vision, implementation, and expansion.

You have the technical proficiency to envision and implement new systems for tracking data and driving towards high quality program outcomes and reporting. You are capable of working both independently and in teams, managing multiple projects and time sensitive deadlines at the same time. You are a great collaborator, an effective communicator, and are adept at seeking and using feedback to shape your work. You are a creative problem solver who relishes digging into new challenges and can prioritize problems based on urgency. You are highly organized and pay close attention to the details, while always keeping bigger picture goals, values, and purpose in mind. Required Qualifications:
Primary Responsibilities: Support program staff and activities, including providing regular supervision, managing program resources and budgets, and collaborating internally and externally to ensure high quality program delivery • Provide regular staff supervision and support • Manage program resources and budgets in partnership with program staff • Promote collaboration between program staff and the rest of the organization, including representing and advocating for programs at the senior leadership and board level • Oversee data collection and evaluation efforts Guide daily program delivery and off-season program preparation for Prescription Produce Plan • Prepare program and farm staff to fulfill program elements, including providing needed guidance on activities, identifying resource needs, and collaborating to fulfill program requirements • Prepare materials and resources for participants • Collaborate with partners to ensure efficient and accurate data collection and reporting • Routinely prepares, synthesizes and presents reports of programmatic data to inform departmental decision making Build and support partnerships, community outreach & collaborative initiatives • Participate in local, regional, and statewide coalitions, taskforces, and partnerships • Collaborate with other Shalom Farms staff to effectively partner with outside organizations Direct program vision, lead program staff development • Provide clear direction and support to the Programs staff, Programs Committee, and senior leadership team (including Director of Farm Operations and Director of Development) • Offer content expertise internally to guide programs and externally to expand and deepen partnerships to strengthen the food system • Offer ongoing coaching and opportunities for professional development to the Programs staff Skills and Experience of the Ideal Candidate: • A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in roles where you were charged with leading program activities, adult education, planning and executing program plans, collecting and evaluating data and outcomes, and collaborating internally and externally • Highly organized, with attention to detail and strong analytical skills • Comfortable with navigating ambiguity and maintaining an attitude of flexibility, high tolerance for change • Strong technical proficiency with using Excel and Google Suite tools to track and report on the status/effectiveness of programmatic initiatives and partnerships • Experience managing programs independently and in collaboration with teams • Capable of managing grants and assisting in the development of grant proposals • Firmly committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion • Highly effective written and verbal communicator, comfortable communicating through phone, and email, and speaking in front of large and small groups • Strong interpersonal acumen, ability to anticipate and address needs, and willing to both support and lead • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment of the sector and the organization • Learning oriented, with a desire to seek and use feedback to shape your work • Self-directed yet flexible • Experience or strong interest in directly supervising, supporting and developing an employee • Customer service and inclusive team orientation toward colleagues and program participants Requirements: • Drivers’ license and a copy of driving history from DMV • Ability to lift 30+ pounds • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
