The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood

The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood (VLPP) seeks to add a second Educator to our Richmond-based team. This position is funded through a grant which is slated to last at least through June 2020, but VLPP will continuously work to extend funding for the position.

Job Summary

Responsible for the implementation of educational programs and services to promote healthy and responsible decision-making in the area of sexuality and reproductive choice for the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood’s Service Area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work with Supervisor to develop effective lesson plans, modifying them as needed to meet the requirements of specific clients or venues.
Implement education programs by preparing program materials, presenting program content in a knowledgeable and culturally sensitive manner, and collecting outcome data.
Report outcome data to supervisor in a timely manner.
Maintain positive relationships with community partners.
Represent VLPP at community education events.
Assist supervisor in community needs assessments, data collection, creating new education materials, and other administrative tasks.
Work cooperatively with Advocacy Department as opportunities arise.

Required Qualifications:
Qualifications Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education or related field; comprehensive knowledge of sexual health; ability to work independently as well as with a team; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work with community partners and staff in a pleasant, caring, and professional manner. Must demonstrate cultural competence in the communities VLPP serves. Must have comprehensive sexuality education background and a minimum of two years experience in youth leadership and/or school setting working with young people. Evening and weekend availability required. Must be willing to travel within VLPP’s service area. Must be familiar/proficient in Microsoft Office.
