The Richmond Peace Education Center is seeking a skilled full time Executive Director.

The Peace Center is a community-based nonprofit organization in Richmond, Virginia, dedicated to building just, inclusive and nonviolent communities through education and action.

Through its programs and collaborations, the Center teaches peaceful conflict resolution, mobilizes people to stand up for justice, and empowers young people to be leaders for peace and community change. Its programs reach thousands of people each year.

The Peace Center was founded in 1980 and has a four decade long history of inspiring and sparking change in the Richmond region. In the past 5 years, the Peace Center has grown significantly, increasing grant funding, individual contributions and paid staff. Consolidating this growth and leading the organization into its fifth decade will be key responsibilities of the Executive Director.

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, development, programs, finances and communications of the organization, and for implementing the strategic direction set in consultation with the board. The Executive Director oversees staff and interns.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
Excellent organizational abilities including planning, program development, budget management. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders in shaping, articulating and executing an organizational vision and strategic plan. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and collaborate with staff. Demonstrated expertise in fundraising. Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit finances. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to values of peace, justice, dignity of all, and social change; ability to articulate the Peace Center’s vision to multiple audiences throughout the Richmond region and beyond. Sensitivity to issues of oppression diversity and inclusion; Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic groups.
Salary:
55,000-60,000/year
