Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now),Inc. seeks a highly-organized, detail-oriented Family Advocate to assist families of children experiencing or at-risk for maltreatment. This hourly, 25-hour-per-week position is under the supervision of the SCAN Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Program Coordinator. The Family Advocate holds a vital role in ensuring that all victims and families served by the CAC and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) receive consistent and necessary support services to promote healing. The Family Advocate is expected to be present at the CAC during the forensic interviews as a first point of contact to assess for needed resources, provide information about the investigative process, and offer support and crisis intervention.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, juvenile justice or related fields. Must be highly-organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent time-management skills to manage work load and responsibilities. Must be able to work well independently and in team settings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with child victims and their families from diverse backgrounds, as well as with multidisciplinary team members. Must display cultural competency and professional ethics and boundaries. Experience and proficiency with data-entry and data-management for client-tracking and for program evaluation a plus. Bilingual is also helpful.
