Job Developer-VASAVOR Program

OAR of Richmond, Inc.

This position is funded through a contract with the Virginia Department of Corrections. It has been funded through September 30, 2020 and should be renewed. This is a full-time (40 hour per week) position. (VASAVOR: Virginia Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative.)

Description of Duties:

Works out of the OAR Central Office and Probation and Parole District One to perform the job development services including but not limited to the following:

Meet with clients on an individual basis for job prep sessions
Assist clients with completing resumes, employment applications, and assist in training clients on technological uses and budgeting
Conduct Mock Interviews with clients
Maintain a minimum of one weekly in person contact with each client
Complete data entry and run routine reports
Maintain program participant data in the job development and employer contacts databases
Contact employers via email or telephone to set up appointments for participants
Contact potential employers for participants and maintain communication/collaboration with new/continuing employers
Follow-up with employers about jobs and availability
Maintain and keep available a database of employers who work with VASAVOR and participant’s employment status including promotions.
Work with the case manager to maintain VASAVOR housing for participants.
Meet expected deadlines by completing monthly reports and submitting to appropriate persons on time.
Clearly communicate with each client’s Probation Officer on a weekly basis.
Clearly communicate with the VASAVOR Case Manager about each VASAVOR participant.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Executive Director.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary course work and equivalent experience Experience and/or knowledge of the criminal justice system and social work field Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people Detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Familiarity with Access and Excel databases
