Preservation Virginia seeks an enthusiastic and motivated part-time site coordinator for The John Marshall House.

The Site Coordinator, in coordination with the Preservation Virginia team, is responsible for the administration of the site staff, preservation of the structures and grounds, interpretation, community engagement, and successful performance of the museum store.

This is a part-time, year-round position that will require weekend work. $15 per hour 20-30 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and be able to enthusiastically represent The John Marshall House and Preservation Virginia’s statewide initiatives to the interpretive staff and a wide variety of individuals both in person and through social media.

Required Qualifications:
● Monitoring the historic structure and the grounds and notifying the Architectural Conservator and the Director of Museum Operations and Education utilizing “Maintenance Checklist.” ● Following all of Preservation Virginia’s procedures and policies included in the “Site Coordinator Manual” including those for maintenance, preservation, care of collections, disaster preparedness, filming, facilities use, etc. ● Ensuring proper and accurate interpretation at the property by recruiting and selecting, training, evaluating, scheduling and supervising interpretive staff. ● Preparing weekly and monthly reports concerning number of visitors, ticket sales, gift shop receipts, and other income generated by the property, using Excel template worksheets and e-mail communications from the site and according to the schedule set by the Finance Office. ● Managing site operations to ensure budgeted goals for expenses, as well as admissions and retail sales, are achieved annually. ● Work with the Finance Office, or designated Inventory Manager, to order retail merchandise and as a resource for product mix to improve retail sales and maintain reasonable inventory levels. ● Acting as liaison with related organizations in the region, including tourism organizations, historical and cultural attractions and associations, etc.; be certain to inform the Director of Museum Operations and Education about any upcoming opportunities in which you will be representing the site/organization. ● Providing original and accurate site-related content for professional publications and social media platforms. ● Attend training and informational meetings in the Richmond office or at such locations as may be determined. This includes participating by conference call in regular staff meetings as scheduled. ● Oversee physical plant site operations to include managing contractors that provide grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance and repair, service calls for on-site physical plant issues, responding to emergency personnel in the event of fire or security alarm and receiving deliveries of product merchandise. ● Performing other duties as required by the position or as assigned by the supervisor.
$15.00 per hour
