Responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors for major and planned gifts. Represent ChildFund’s mission and strategic initiatives while serving the passions and interests of ChildFund’s donors with the purpose of developing and managing relationships to increase their financial commitments to and their affinity with the organization.

 Actively manage a portfolio of major giving donors and prospects
 Secure funding to support ChildFund priorities, including specific projects, programs and other initiatives as defined
 Renew and grow annual and multi-year giving by building strong relationships with an assigned portfolio of donors
 Regularly engage with “discovery” prospects with the goal of assessing their affinity and financial capacity for major donor potential, moving them into assigned portfolio when appropriate
 Work to match the passions and philanthropic interests of assigned donors with the mission, accomplishments, and needs of ChildFund
 Utilize planned and measurable actions, steps and contacts designed to deepen each donor relationship:
• Acknowledge generosity
• Gather insight into motivations to give
• Assess resource capacity
• Develop appropriate cultivation strategies
• Move (in an appropriate and timely fashion) toward solicitation and closure
• Maintain appropriate stewardship contacts
• Adhere to the highest ethical standards
 Develop and execute solicitations with planned giving strategies for assigned donors when and where appropriate
 Regularly update fundraising database with all relevant donor information and interactions with donors and prospects
 Customize materials for successful solicitation and cultivation of assigned donors
 Identify and coordinate opportunities for senior leadership to engage with assigned donors
 Travel with major donors overseas as necessary for visits to Country Offices and tours of program areas as part of cultivation strategy
 Work collaboratively with other ChildFund staff to build deeper and stronger relationships with donors for ChildFund’s mission and priorities
 Meet and exceed performance objectives and goals as determined and outlined in annual goal setting
 Other special projects as designed by the Director of Philanthropy or Vice President, Innovation and Business Development

Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE  Ten years of successful experience in major gift fundraising, preferably with an international or development organization  Highly energetic professional with excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts  Ability to understand the needs and interests of major donors and how to deepen donor relationships with the organization  Must demonstrate an empathetic demeanor, conveying optimism and a positive attitude with an overriding sensitivity to the needs of donors  Proven experience with major and planned giving cultivation strategies  Demonstrated experience in developing in-depth cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and plans  Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills with both internal and external stakeholders  History of successfully achieving annual and long-range fundraising goals  Deep commitment to ChildFund’s core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and donors  Significant domestic, and some international travel required EDUCATION  Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
