Marketing and Communications Manager


Executes an effective marketing and communications plan to promote the Chamber’s image, initiatives events and programs. Duties include:

• Writes and produces two biannual reports per year showcasing the accomplishments and research of the Chamber’s FutureRVA initiative.
• Writes specialized and focused communication for sales and support based value propositions for various member segments to raise awareness of value created for each group and to drive revenue.
• Drafts press releases as needed to promote events and accomplishments of Chamber.
• Writes content for publications including social media channels and paid advertising to provide the “storytelling” component of the Chamber’s annual marketing and communications plan that includes FutureRVA.
• Coordinates internal efforts to design logo, identity and associated branding for various programs and services, with an emphasis on comprehensive and strategic event marketing and promotion.
• Ensures optimal impact of marketing efforts through effective resource allocation and application of communications channels, including Chamber web site.
• Serves as a resource for program staff and volunteers on the impact and effectiveness of strategies, customer research, market conditions and competitor data and implements revised strategies accordingly, often in a collaborative environment.
• Serves as staff lead for ChamberRVA Branding and Communications committee.
• Writes and coordinates publication of the ChamberRVA annual report, publications and presentations.
• Conducts at least one comprehensive annual membership satisfaction survey and coordinating analysis and use of standardized program and event evaluations.

Help manage Chamber’s social media channels. Duties include
• Writes regular mix of content to include event promotion, member and Chamber news, regional news and other relevant information.
• Ensures that the Chamber is connected with members upon joining the Chamber through writing and management of automated touchpoint communications.
• Monitors compliance among staff members and volunteers with clearance to post on behalf of the Chamber and its brands.

Required Qualifications:
Five years’ experience in corporate communications and/or marketing. Demonstrated ability to write concisely and with flair. Understanding of and demonstrated ability to master database software and online publication/website familiarity.
