This job begins in August 2020. Our programs are currently closed due to Covid-19 but we hope to reopen at the start of the new school year and we’re looking for a driver to join our team then.

CHAT has a mission to impact hundreds of youth in the East End of Richmond. Transportation to and from school and out of school activities is an obstacle for many of the families we serve, so drivers are an important part of our team.

We are looking for part-time Mini Bus and Van Drivers who can provide consistent, timely and safe transportation for CHAT students. We have short weekday shifts available in the early morning and after school hours. Our positions are 10-15 hours per week.

The primary objectives of this role are:
Drive a 14-passenger minibus or van on a regularly scheduled route transporting youth.
Greet students warmly by name and ensure students maintain orderly conduct while riding the bus, documenting and communicating any incidents to your supervisor.
Maintain required records about youth and families assigned to transportation routes, and checking email daily for any updates.
Report for daily verbal check-ins with supervisor about route changes or other issues.
Maintain vehicle in proper and safe operating condition at all times and report defects to supervisor.
Observe safety precautions and enforce regulations while loading and discharging passengers and while bus is in operation.
Other duties as assigned.

Driving Schedule:
Drivers are needed to provide student transportation for Church Hill Academy (high school) and After School programming (K-12). Individual drivers will be assigned to regular routes. Schedules may vary from day to day due to school delays, early dismissals, cancellations or holidays. This is a school year position only (mid-August through mid-June).

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A CDL is NOT Required High School Diploma or GED Valid Driver’s License and successfully pass a driving record check Age 21 or older and one year’s experience operating a motor vehicle Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor related to abuse, neglect or exploitation of children, and successfully pass a background check Strong verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience driving minibuses or vans for youth in a similar setting, such as school or summer camp Experience driving large vehicles Experience working with youth First Aid and CPR Certified
$13 - $18 per hour
