Overnight Worker

Children’s Home Society of Virginia

Children’s Home Society of Virginia has openings on its team for two part-time Overnight Workers for the My Path Forward (MPF) program. Overnight Workers will provide after-hours and weekend supervision, using a trauma-informed approach to support program participants. Participants are young adults (ages 17-25) who have aged out of foster care.

Overnight Workers will collaborate with program staff to ensure participants’ needs are met, case management goals and objectives are actively worked on, and issues are effectively and efficiently dealt with in a timely manner. Support services include bed/curfew checks, crisis management, providing program transportation, and delivering limited services as it relates to each participants’ case management plans (i.e. teaching life skills and management; job coaching; and offering consistent training on being a good roommate, tenant, neighbor, employee, student and community member).

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have an in-depth understanding of trauma-informed care and of the foster care system, independent living programs in Virginia, and how these operate. Best practices for coaching and teaching young adults and an understanding of their needs, attitudes and beliefs, and role and importance of permanency are required. Must be skilled in problem-solving, negotiating services and identifying resources, and collaborating with participants, team members, and community partners. Must have 3-5 years’ experience working independently providing coaching, case management or a related field to youth and young adults, or a college degree from an accredited college or university in a related subject. Experience working with young adults in foster care or who have aged out of foster care is preferred.
