Program Manager – Leadership and Engagement – Young Professionals


Lead and execute leadership offerings focused on attracting, retaining and developing young professionals including HYPE, The Icons and MENTOR Richmond. Develop, implement and evaluate programs that meet the emerging needs of the both the community and Chamber members, and fit with the strategic focus of the organization. Update Board and Executive Committee of key activities and outcomes.

Helping Young Professionals Engage (HYPE)
• Lead the promotion and execution of HYPE programming:
Recruit, support, and facilitate HYPE’s Leadership Council and respective sub-committees; maintain volunteer handbook and organize annual
leadership retreat; partner with leadership team to create an ongoing calendar of HYPE programming
In partnership with the marketing team, develop a robust communication strategy to ensure active participation from sponsors, individuals and
corporate subscribers; help execute marketing using social media, website, email and handouts
Execute all program logistics, including location, catering, invoicing, billing, collection and coordinating needed equipment and relationships
with vendors
• Responsible for setting and meeting revenue goals; actively strategizes, retains and solicits sponsors; works with senior mgt to ensure alignment
with sponsorship strategy
• Monitor HYPE subscription acquisition and retention activities:
Ensure personal contact and correspondence with existing subscribers and proactively seek out new subscribers; direct members to
appropriate volunteer and engagement opportunities
Administrative responsibility for updating Chamber records
• Proposes and administers program budget; invoices and manages collections for related programming
• Serves as primary staff liaison to appropriate Board committee

The Icons Event
• Work with incoming HYPE Chair to execute signature event on an annual basis:
Develop event agenda and theme
In partnership with team, plan logistics including location, catering, invoicing, billing, collection and coordinating needed equipment and
relationships with vendors
Select and manage selection committee; provide clear instructions to ensure integrity of process; develop and execute timeline for
nomination process, application review and announcement of finalists
Lead YP Workplace Award committee; develop selection criteria, solicit nominations; organize and participate in the finalists site visits
In partnership with marketing team, execute communication plan to include calls for applications, social media, website, email, handouts, etc.
Identify and recruit potential community partners and stakeholders
Develop and administer budget, solicit sponsors and fulfill sponsorship contracts

MENTOR Richmond
• Lead the promotion and execution of the MENTOR Richmond application-based program:
Create 8-month schedule of mentors across Richmond by sourcing and confirming business and community leaders across the region
In partnership with the marketing team and leadership team, develop a robust communication strategy; execute marketing using social media,
website, email and handouts
Manage application process including recruitment marketing materials, promotion of application deadline and qualifications, selection of
participants, and communication throughout the process for those accepted and declined
Develop and administer program budget; oversees billing
Program management including serving as primary point of contact for communication, logistical reminders, catering, on-site support, etc.

Other assigned Leadership Program Tasks
• Proactively develop relationships with members, community partners and HR professionals to advance chamber-led efforts to further elevate
RVA’s growing national reputation among young adults
• Explore unique partnership and collaboration opportunities to create increased demand for programs, and to ensure high quality content and
community engagement
• Work closely with other Chamber staff on the intersectionality of programs/audiences to ensure program offerings are viewed along a
continuum, and feeder opportunities are leveraged
• Propose new and engaging programs related to leadership strategic initiatives
• Assist Leadership team and broader ChamberRVA team with other programs or events happening throughout the year

Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications and Marketing, Business Administration or a related field; or equivalent experience KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: • Strong commitment to building a welcoming, vibrant Richmond Region where young professionals want to stay and make an impact • Demonstrated experience in event, program and project management required • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Illustrator, Access, Outlook) and various other applications as needed for the role • Sales and marketing experience preferred SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This role requires a high level of external engagement with the community. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated experience interacting interpersonally and giving presentations with small and large groups. Must have reliable transportation to locations across the region and flexibility to work early mornings and late evenings.
