Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance

The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (Action Alliance) is hiring two positions as part of an exciting new statewide project. The Underserved Project Learning Collaborative (UPLC) is a partnership between the Action Alliance, the Virginia Department of Social Services, the Department of Criminal Justice Services and community sexual and domestic violence agencies which seek to build their capacity to provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed services and programs to populations in their communities who are not currently being served or who are inadequately served.

The two UPLC Project Coaches will work directly with community sexual and domestic violence agencies, promoting reflection and learning, offering intensive coaching and technical assistance, and facilitating the application of a social justice framework to the daily work of agencies as they seek to address sexual and domestic violence in their communities. Specifically, the UPLC Project Coaches will guide and support agency transformations that include integrating changes in policy and practice at all levels of the organization to make culturally-responsive, trauma-informed services and programs available; and to form deeper and more meaningful relationships and partnerships with underserved populations in their communities.

About the Action Alliance:
The Action Alliance has been Virginia’s leading voice on sexual and domestic violence for more than 30 years and enhances response and prevention efforts through training, public policy advocacy, public awareness programs, and technical assistance to professionals. We recognize that sexual and domestic violence are linked to other forms of oppression, which disproportionately affect women, children, and marginalized people. Understanding the great harm racism has created for individuals, families and our communities in Virginia, we are committed to building within the coalition an anti-racist framework from which to address sexual and domestic violence.

The Action Alliance is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
People of color, women, LGBTQ candidates, and people of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We are committed to a diverse workplace and to supporting our staff with ongoing career development opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
We’re looking for: Experienced social justice advocates who have engaged in deep reflection, meaningful partnerships and substantial growth as they have learned to apply the values of ending oppression to the day-to-day tasks of helping people. The ideal candidate will be well versed in applying a trauma-informed model of advocacy to work with sexual and domestic violence survivors, will be able to articulate anti-oppression and social justice principles as they relate to addressing and preventing gender-based violence, and will have experience working within/partnering with underserved communities. The positions require 3-5 years of directly related experience. We are seeking two individuals who will work well together to facilitate an engaging process, teach complicated concepts, model the process of continuous reflection and learning, and partner respectfully with individuals from diverse agencies and communities. These positions require regular and significant travel.
The starting salary range for these positions is $48-53,000/year.
The Action Alliance offers a generous benefits package and an outstanding and flexible work environment.
