ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

*Enforces all rules and regulations of the shelter.
*Prepare sleeping and sitting areas for guests by setting up the rooms prior to shelter opening.
*Clean sleeping and sitting areas at the end of each shift.
*Provide clients with blankets and try to meet other needs on an as-needed basis(hygiene products etc).
*Respond to guest requests for medical/mental health services.
*Be available to guests who have questions about services provided in the shelter and elsewhere in the community.
*Diffuse potentially disruptive situations by creating rapport with clients and mediating between guests and security.
*Work collaboratively with security to ensure the safety of all clients and staff.
*Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
*Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
*Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
*Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

SHIFTS: The shelter will operate when outside temperatures fall below 40 degrees. Scheduled shifts will be from 6:30pm – 6:30am. Hours will extend to 10:30am when the daytime forecast is below 40 degrees. Shifts will be 12 hours long and could extend to 16 hours according to the forecast.
