Orchard House School is currently seeking applicants for part-time Substitute Teachers (on call positions) and part-time, temporary Teacher Aides (multiple positions up to 25 hours per week).

The rate of pay for substitute teaching is $45.00 for one class, $60.00 for two classes, and $85.00 for three or more classes per day.

The rate of pay for Teacher Aides is $13 per hour.

All newly hired Substitute Teachers and Teacher Aides will receive a general orientation, technology orientation, and a specific COVID-19 policy and protocol orientation.

Responsibilities (Substitute Teachers and Teacher Aides): supervising carpool, breaks, lunch, recess, and similar duties; assisting lead teachers as needed (aides only); using teaching and/or supervisory techniques that support the mission and philosophy of the school; supporting student behaviors as described in the Family Handbook; following lesson plans submitted by the regular classroom teacher (substitutes only); ensuring classroom management and maintaining a respectful and safe environment; leaving appropriate documentation for the regular classroom teacher and school administration as needed; and other responsibilities to be determined by school administration as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Essential Skills (Substitute Teachers and Teacher Aides): Candidates for these positions hold the following skill set: bachelor’s degree required for Substitute Teachers and preferred for Teacher Aides; appreciation for the mission and philosophy of the school; passion for instilling a love of learning and for working with middle school students; middle school teaching experience; strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both oral and written); ability to complete all reports and communicate with parents, faculty, and the administration in a timely, professional manner; strong orientation towards teamwork, institutional success, and community success.
