Virginia Community Development Fund (VCDF) is a nonprofit community lender based in Richmond, VA and the lending affiliate of VCDC, a non-profit equity provider specializing in affordable housing, historic preservation, and community facility investments. Our loans support affordable housing and commercial real estate financing in low-income communities across VA and WV, and the projects we finance make use of New Market Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. For over 15 years VCDF has provided flexible financing to real estate projects with the goal of improving opportunities in jobs and housing for low-income people in VA and WV. We are committed to bringing fair, responsible resources to communities in economic distress by providing predevelopment funds for affordable housing and financing challenging commercial and economic development projects.

Mission: VCDF’s mission is to provide alternative financing and technical assistance to non-profit developers or other publicly accountable entities engaged in creating or preserving affordable housing or community development activities in VA and WV. We are a values-driven organization and work to prioritize local needs, provide reliable, flexible financing to under-served communities, and create and maintain strong partnerships.

VCDF is operated by VCDC staff. VCDC is a nonprofit organization that specializes in supporting community and housing development through our managed financial programs and collaborative consulting. We work with our partners and affiliates, including VCDF, to create and maintain flourishing communities where neighbors thrive.

Required Qualifications:
A successful applicant will have a desire to increase access to resources for low-income, underserved communities; be able to work independently to complete data and administrative projects; be flexible, creative, patient, and willing to learn. The ideal candidate will have: Experience in business, economics, financial analysis; willingness to learn new systems - Strong financial skills, ability to interpret financial statements, and facility with financing models - Knowledge of community development, racial equity, and economic inclusion - Experience in administration, program coordination, or similar - Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal - Focus to ensure accurate and timely reporting and grants administration The following are qualifications and/or experience that are beneficial to job performance: - Graduate degree or training in business, economics, finance - Experience in community development financial institution (CDFI) industry - Understanding of lending, due diligence, and underwriting processes - Knowledge of community development lending and other loan programs - Knowledge of servicing and data management software Physical Demands and Requirements: The physical demands and requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: sit, move, communicate (verbally and written), frequently lift objects up to 20 pounds, and read, analyze, and calculate various types of data and information. In addition, site visits and inspections may require kneeling, crouching and squatting. Travel: Frequent statewide and regional travel is an integral part of this position and a valid driver’s license is required.
Salary:
45,000-60,000
Benefits:
Competitive salary (range between $45,000 - $60,000 plus benefits) commensurate with experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience; we ask that you provide your salary requirements in your application. In addition to competitive pay, we provide a competitive benefits package including health insurance with an employer/employee shared cost model, an employer paid retirement plan after a one year, an education assistance program for job-related educational opportunities and generous leave and sick time policies.
